EVALUATION OF ANTISPERM ANTIBODIES

As a preference, the sample will be collected in the CFHM. In case it is not possible, the sample will be brought to the laboratory in such a way that the initiation of the analysis is carried out in a later hosur to the obtaining of the sample. Given the variety observed in the samples and spermatic count among ejaculated, the evaluation will be recommended of at least two ejaculations to be able to confirm the obtained results.

Evaluation of antisperm antibodies

PURPOSE

In some cases, immunologic factors can play an important role in the infertility. The antisperm antibodies can be produced by the man and/or the woman. The man can develop antisperm antibodies against his own sperms, and the woman can generate antibodies against her couple's sperms.

The antisperm antibodies can contribute to the infertility in several ways:

To immobilize the sperms before these reach the cervical mucus.

If they are located in the cervical mucus, the antisperm antibodies can catch the spermatic cells in the structure of the mucus, impeding their migration in the uterus.

They interfere in a direct way during the interaction process between the ovocyte and the sperm, impeding the fertilization.

The evaluation of antisperm antibodies is used to detect antibodies in the semen, serum and cervical mucus.

METHOD

The antisperm antibodies are detected using microscopically "inmunobeads", small spheres of resins to those that antibodies are coupled. If the antisperm antibodies are together to the surface of the sperms, the spermatic cells will unite to those "inmunobeads."

Negative sperms for this method are blended with the serum or the cervical mucus evaluated, later on the union is examined to "inmunobeads."

Time Of The Prosecution

For realization the procedure requires from 3 to 4 hours.
