PRESELECTION OF THE SEX

PURPOSE

The preselection of the sex should be carried out previous to the insemination, in order to increase the probability of having a baby of masculine or feminine sex.

METHOD

The technique of Ericsson is based on the principle by the one which sperms that take the chromosome Y (male) move more quickly than those that take the chromosome X (woman).

To carry out this technique the sperms are incubated in a tube with a liquid viscous proteic.

The method is based in that during the incubation, a number bigger than sperms Y that X will cross the layer of the liquid proteic. After repeating this process, a sample is obtained with a percentage of sperms that contain the chromosome Y or X (depending on the one you select) bigger than in the original sample.

TIME OF PROSECUTION

The process requires for its realization 3 hours.

INFORMATION FOR THE PATIENT

Previous to the collection of the sample, it is recommended to have a sexual abstinence of at least of 2 days and not more than 5 days.
The sample will be collected in the CFHM.

In case that it is not possible sample it will be taken to the laboratory in a such way that the initiation of the analysis is carried out in a later hour to the obtaining of the sample.
